Khulna is one of the administrative divisions of Bangladesh, which is located in the southwest part of the country. The headquarter of Khulna Division is Khulna City. The city, 3rd largest in the country, is situated on the bank of river Rupsa and Bhairab, which are flowing in the southwestern part of Bangladesh. Khulna is one of the oldest river ports and industrial area of of the country, hence it is called the ‘industrial city’. Mongla, Bangladesh’s second largest seaport, 48 km away of Khulna city. The world-famous coastal forest Sundarbans is located in the southern part of Khulna Division. Sundarbans have expanded in Khulna, Bagerhat and Satkhira districts of Khulna Division. Khulna is called the gateway to the Sundarbans. Distance of Khulna city from the capital Dhaka is 333 km by road.
